It's the early 1990s. The Soviet system has imploded and its assets are up for grabs. The Malenkov brothers can see the riches, but to get there they need a western partner, with money. Victor Lansky, half-British, half-Polish, looks a likely candidate. But will he bite? Is he greedy enough to take the risk of the unknown? If he does, how will the politicians react and who will get to keep the money? From icy Siberia to Alpine luxury to yachts in the sunny Caribbean, the story follows the characters as they first make and then attempt to hold on to their fortunes - and their lives.
Geoff Sambrook was intimately involved in business with Russia during this period and writes with a genuine knowledge and understanding of the way things were then. Czar Rising is a piece of fiction, but sometimes it suggests a disturbing reality.
